Founded in 2000 by Martino Piccioli and Roberto Pellegrini, the band played with different musicians before forming the current lineup composed of: Roberto Pellegrini (vocals and guitar), Martino Piccioli (vocals, guitar and keyboards), Filippo (bass) and Stefano Marinucci (drums). The band’s sound is between brit pop and classic rock enriched with modern nuances, though it gets its inspiration from the pure ‘60s classic rock (Beatles, Rolling Stones, Who). While lyrics are based on the every-day experiences of the band.

In 2006, the band ranks 5th at the newcomer band contest ‘Palco ai Giovani’ (Lugano, Switzerland) and was given a special award (‘Premio Extra’) sponsored by the major newspaper ‘Corriere del Ticino’. In 2007, The Guinnass takes part to the ‘Rock-Highway Contest’ (Zurich, Switzerland), reaching the semi-final session and receiving enthusiastic feedbacks from both the audience and the jury for the old-original sound. In 2008, The Guinnass begin to collaborate with the Italian producer Antonio ‘Aki’ Chindamo at Auditoria Records (auditoria.it). The result is the band’s debut album, named after the band ‘The Guinnass’. Eric Van Aro writes: ‘The Guinnass self-titled debut CD is a spontaneous and energetic journey into the pop-rock-alternative genre straight out of Switzerland’. In 2009, the band is chosen out of more than 200 bands in Europe to take part at the Flandrika Lifestyle Festival (Milan, Italy). March the same year, The Guinnass are chosen to play at historical Piazza Grande in Locarno (Switzerland). Members of the Jury included Italian artists like Umberto Tozzi and Davide Van De Sfroos.

On November 5, 2014 the band releases its second album called ‘Stereophonic’ (Auditoria Records). This album becomes the soundtrack for ‘Miss Earth the movie’ (Ticino selections) and the band is chosen out of 20’000 bands to be placed on the homepage of Mx3.ch (the Swiss largest bands platform) for two consecutive months. The single ‘Walk On To Be Free’, mixed by Marco Barusso (30 seconds to mars, Coldplay, Ramazzotti,… barux.com) reached the 2nd place on the Rete Tre Top 10 Chart where it remained for 9 consecutive weeks. On February 11, 2015 the band presented the new single called ‘Hey You (please come back to you)’, on air on all regional radios. On March 14, 2015 the band plays at the club Berihübeli in Bern (bierhuebeli.ch) after being selected among over 200 bands to take part to the final contest to get a ticket to play for the Gurten Festival.

On September 4, 2015 the new single ‘Blackjack’ is released and becomes the official theme track for the major TV-format “Black Jack” broadcasted by the Swiss national radio ‘Rete 3’ and the Swiss national TV (RSI LA 1). The new single is presented the same day with a live performance at prime time on the Swiss national TV (here the video).

By the end of 2015 The Guinnass signed a publishing agreement with CDF Records (cdfrecords.com): #1 label in Italy and Switzerland and among Top 20 labels in Europe. In early September 2016 the band had the pleasure to open for Francesco Gabbani, who would then win the Festival della canzone italiana in San Remo.

On December 16, 2016 the single ‘Morning Love’ is released. A ballad mixed with a pure rock’n’roll sound which is immediately appreciated by the audience and the radios.

La band fondata nel 2000 da Martino Piccioli e Roberto Pellegrini, vede succedersi diversi musicisti, prima di raggiungere l’attuale formazione composta da: Roberto Pellegrini (voce e chitarra), Martino Piccioli (voce, chitarra e pianoforte), Fillppo Zanoli (basso) e Stefano Marinucci (batteria e percussioni). Il suono della band è si rifà al brit pop e al classic rock. Lo stile musicale è influenzato dagli anni ’60 (Beatles, Rollings Stones, Who), ma lascia spazio a sfumature più moderne. I testi, spontanei, raccontano della vita quotidiana e delle esperienza della band.

Nel 2006 al concorso ‘Palco ai giovani’ (Lugano, Svizzera) la band si aggiudica il quinto posto e il ‘Premio Extra’ votato dal pubblico e offerto dal ‘Corriere del Ticino’. Nel 2007 la band partecipa al ‘Rock-Highway Contest’, concorso che si svolge a Zurigo (Svizzera), raggiungendo le semifinali e ricevendo critiche molto positive da pubblico e giuria. Nel 2008 la band inizia a collaborare con il produttore Antonio ‘Aki’ Chindamo presso Auditoria Records (auditoria.it). La collaborazione porta all’album di debutto intitolato ‘The Guinnass’: il disco contiene 12 tracce dal suono coinvolgente, che spaziano da brani hard rock a ballate. Eric Van Aro scrive: ‘The Guinnass self-titled debut CD is a spontaneous and energetic journey into the pop-rock-alternative genre straight out of Switzerland’ Le due ballate ‘Sad Ballad’ e ‘Mary’ vengono lanciate su radio relax (internazionale). Mentre il brano ‘Jimi’s World’ trova spazio, poco tempo dopo, sulla radio svizzera “Rete 3”. Nel 2009 la band viene selezionata tra 12 formazioni provenienti da tutta l’Europa per partecipare al Flandrika Lifestyle Festival svoltosi nella suggestiva cornice dell’Idroscalo di Milano. Nel marzo dello stesso anno, i Guinnass vengono scelti da una giuria di qualità (comprendente tra gli altri Umberto Tozzi e Davide Van De Sfroos) per suonare in Piazza Grande a Locarno, un palco storico della musica internazionale.

Il 5 novembre 2014 viene pubblicato il secondo disco intitolato Stereophonic’ (Auditoria Records). Il singolo ‘Walk On To Be Free’, missato da Marco Barusso (30 seconds to mars, Coldplay, Ramazzotti,… barux.com), raggiunge il 2° posto nella Top 10 di Rete 3 rimanendovi per 9 settimane. L’album diventa la colonna sonora per il film ‘Miss Earth the movie’ (selezioni ticinesi) ed è stato scelto fra 20’000 bands per apparire per due mesi consecutivi sulla homepage del portale Mx3.ch. L’11 febbraio la band presenta il nuovo singolo ‘Hey You (please come back to you)’, on air su tutte le radio del Canton Ticino (Svizzera). Il 14 marzo 2015 la band suona al “Bierhübeli” di Berna (bierhuebeli.ch) dopo esser stata selezionata fra oltre 200 bands per partecipare alla serata finale che dà accesso Gurten Festival.

ll 4 settembre 2015 esce il nuovo singolo “Blackjack” (il primo cantato in italiano) che diventa la sigla dell’apprezzatissimo quiz “Black Jack” in onda su “Rete 3” e “RSI LA 1” (Radiotelevisione svizzera). Contemporaneamente all’uscita del singolo la band si esibisce in prima serata durante la trasmissione della TV nazionale svizzera (qui il video). A fine 2015 i The Guinnass firmano un contratto di edizione con CDF Records (cdfrecords.com), etichetta numero 1 in Italia e Svizzera e Top 20 in Europa.

Nel mese di settembre 2016 la band ha l’onore di aprire a Chiasso il concerto di Francesco Gabbani, che dopo pochi mesi vincerà l’edizione 2017 del Festival della canzone italiana a San Remo.

Il 16 dicembre 2016 viene pubblicato il singolo “Morning Love”. Una ballata mista ad un rock’n’roll coinvolgente subito apprezzato dal pubblico e dalle radio.
