After a young Romanian couple (Sergiu and Evika Neamtu) saw their daughter heal from a serious
illness, they together decided to establish this orphanage. For this reason they left the United States,
where they emigrated some years earlier in order to escape from Ceausescu’s dictatorial regime, and
went back to Romania.
To help them take this decision was their daughter, who while in pain on her way to the Bucharest
Hospital, seeing all those kids sleeping aside the street, begged her mother to do something for them.
Once their daughter had healed, the Neamtus decided to convert the grandmother’s house (dead
short before) into orphanage to welcome all abandoned children.
After many bureaucratic difficulties, in 2002 the orphanage could host its first 4 children.
